Kayak Advanced Course I
Components of Advanced course F I:
Introduction Getting to know the equipment Subjective and objective dangers and their prevention Repetition of the basic strokes Stroke forwards Stroke backwards Catching eddies in moderately strong white water Perfecting the Eskimo roll Correct judgement of potential dangers, as well as correct positioning of safety persons Correct use of the buoyancy/rescue bag Learning how to use knots properly Correct choice of boat for different conditions Basics of play-boating The entire course takes place on the Salza; the choice of the section used determined by the kayak instructor responsible. The course is designed to increase in difficulty on a day-by-day basis, to provide a gradual improvement in skills.
We try to teach the Eskimo roll at the beginning of the course, as a way of dispelling fear and as an important relief of tension in travelling on flowing water. However, it may be that this is not always practical or possible in view of prevailing weather- and water conditions. If this is the case, this will be taught at a later stage during the week.
Our kayak teachers are all state certified kayak instructors, enabling us to combine maximum safety, fun and learning.
The Liquid-Lifestyle team wish you a fun, instructive and safe course!!!
